Contemporary Sculpture at Chesterwood
Contemporary Sculpture at Chesterwood (CSC) is a signature event, attracting thousands of visitors each season. Each year, the exhibition has a guest curator & juror who selects a stylistic range of works sited within the landscape designed by French. The Chesterwood staff assists the sculptors in installing their work. Over the years the exhibition has presented the work of many prominent artists, including Leonard Baskin, Glenna Goodacre, George Rickey, and Richard Stankiewicz. Contemporary Sculpture at Chesterwood (CSC) has provided the opportunity to showcase the work of new and emerging artists.
The summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, established in the 1930s, is widely viewed as a premier destination for classical music performed by the world’s finest musicians and orchestras, led by esteemed conductors. Reserve sheltered seating in the Koussevitsky Shed or Seiji Ozawa Hall, or bring a picnic and enjoy music under the stars. Annual events such as the live recording of Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion, Movie Night with John Williams, and Tanglewood on Parade, along with regular appearances by James Taylor and other popular music acts, draw enthusiastic crowds.
Berkshire Harvest Festival
Originally conceived as a harvest-season family and community festival on the grounds of the Berkshire Botanical Garden, the Harvest Festival is one of the largest and longest running events of its kind in the country. The Festival is a celebration of community, showcasing local artisans, supporting local services, and promoting a wide array of superb Berkshire area products.
Founder’s Weekend Celebration
Lee Founders’ Weekend is family friendly, admission free, something for everybody. Every September the weekend kicks off the ever popular “Taste of Lee,” with area restaurants and local food vendors lining Main Street with everything from clam chowder to crab cakes, pizza, butternut squash bisque, fried dough, and so much more…. A street food lover’s paradise.
Aston Magna Music Festival
Aston Magna, the longest continuously operating series of music performed on period instruments or historically accurate reproductions, focuses on work composed in Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries, ranging from the Renaissance to early Baroque periods. Most local performances are held in Great Barrington at the Daniel Arts Center.
Festival of Trees at the Berkshire Museum
Every November, the Festival of Trees is an annual holiday event features 100+ creatively decorated trees displayed throughout the galleries.
Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival
The nation’s oldest summer dance festival brings acclaimed artists from around the world to dance on two barn-like stages on this historic, rural mountaintop campus. Families flock to free performances on an outdoor stage with a verdant valley as a backdrop.
