As an active member of the James Beard Foundation, Alberg curates team dinners in late winter every year at the James Beard House when he invites a group of like-minded Berkshire chefs to collaborate and present the multifaceted culinary artisanship of the region. He participated in the James Beard Foundation’s TasteAmerica Boston event in 2013 and, in 2014, Alberg will present a solo dinner at the James Beard House featuring a menu inspired by favorite foods he has experienced at top restaurant meals throughout the country.

Chef Alberg has been the selected chef for three years for Outstanding in the Field, held at iconic farm locations in the Berkshires. This nationally recognized event presents an opportunity for the Berkshires to make known its historical roots in agriculture and to promote the food culture of the region, especially the strong ties between farmers and chefs and the collaborative practice of farm-to-table values in the Berkshires. Alberg was the presenting chef at the first Outstanding in the Field Dinner in the Berkshires at Indian Line Farm, the first CSA in North America, and the 2013 Outstanding Dinner at Hancock Shaker Village, the living history museum that brings the Shaker story to life. In 2014, Alberg will present the largest Outstanding in the Field Dinner of the year at Lila’s Farm in Great Barrington, Mass.

Chef Alberg took home the top prize and trophy at American Lamb Board’s third annual Boston Lamb Jam for Best Overall Dish, as well as winning Best Shoulder Dish in 2012.

Chef Alberg appears on WWLP (NBC) every few months demonstrating techniques and tips for farm-to-table cooking using locally sourced ingredients from the Berkshires and Hudson Valley.

Chef Alberg will present a series of hands-on cooking classes with guest appearances from local farmers, food producers, brewmasters and spirit makers at Haven’s Kitchen, a recreational cooking school, specialty food shop, and event space located in a charming carriage house two blocks from Manhattan’s Union Square. Their business is dedicated to the preparation and enjoyment of delicious, sustainable, seasonal food and is an ideal place to learn about cooking and sustainability.
