Stockbridge and the Berkshires offer visitors numerous cultural and historic attractions. Below are sample travel itineraries for visiting journalists; please contact us to discuss other options.

Stockbridge in Summer

This itinerary highlights the variety of options available within the town of Stockbridge.

Day 1 - Arrive mid-day. Visit Chesterwood (a property of the National Trust, home of sculptor Daniel Chester French). Dinner in the Widow Bingham's Tavern or the Courtyard at The Red Lion.

Day 2 - Morning: Breakfast in the Dining Room (or Room Service), visit the Berkshire Botanical Garden , tour the Norman Rockwell Museum (with lunch on the Terrace Café). Afternoon: Explore Stockbridge's shopping district or take a walk on a wooded trail. Evening: Dinner in the Main Dining Room, attend the Berkshire Theatre Festival.

Day 3 - Morning: Breakfast at Elm Street Market, tour Naumkeag (a former Berkshires "cottage") and the Mission House (historic houses owned by the Trustees of Reservations).

(note: the Berkshire Theatre Festival season runs from mid June until late August. Chesterwood, the Berkshire Botanical Gardens, Naumkeag and the Mission House are open from Memorial Day through Columbus Day weekend).

Day 2 - Morning: Breakfast in the Dining Room (or Room Service), The Mount (the home of novelist Edith Wharton, author of The Age of Innocence, Ethan Frome, and others). Lunch on the Mount's Terrace Café). Afternoon: Explore Arrowhead (the home of Herman Melville, who wrote Moby Dick here). Evening: Dinner in the Main Dining Room

Day 3 - Morning: Breakfast at Elm Street Market, tour Naumkeag (a former Berkshires "cottage") and the Mission House (historic houses owned by the Trustees of Reservations). Afternoon: Visit the Colonel John Ashley House (the center of an 18 th century empire in Ashley Falls).
