A Few Tidbits About The Inn

Do you have to be a guest to enjoy the entertainment at the Lion’s Den?
Nope. Come one. Come all. Anyone can join us for our nightly festivities at the Lion’s Den. We host a wide variety of musical artists- Friday and Saturday the entertainment starts at 9PM, weekdays and Sundays 8PM. And there’s NEVER a cover charge !

Is the pool open in the winter?
Talk about refreshing. There’s nothing like a dip in our outdoor heated pool in the dead of winter. The pool and hot tub are open all year long; from 6AM to midnight everyday.

Are you pet friendly?
Yes ! We love our furry friends. We have a number of rooms and suites available. Guests must call our reservations office to inquire about the availability of these rooms. A $40 pet fee, per pet, per night applies. Please check out our section on pets for our policies.

Do you have elevators?
There are two in The Inn – a modern, self service elevator in the back of the Inn, and our original 1897 “birdcage” elevator which is operated by our Front Desk staff.  Village Houses do not have elevators, but are not higher than two stories.

Is it necessary to make a dinner reservation?
Yes, we always recommend reservations for either lunch or dinner. Reservations can be made by phone, online or at the reception area in front of our main dining room. We do not take reservations for breakfast, or at the Lion’s Den.

I have dietary restrictions- can you accommodate me?
Usually – depending on the severity of the restriction.  Please either call ahead and speak to a dining room manager or inform your server when you are seated.

Do you serve Brunch ? Do you serve High Tea?
Sorry, we stick to the basics – breakfast, lunch and dinner.

What is the dress code in the dining room?
Casual attire is appropriate most of the year. Jackets and ties are still required in the Main Dining Room on holidays.

Is breakfast included in the room rate ?
Breakfast It is not included in the room rate, however there is complimentary coffee on the Tavern bar early in the morning. We serve breakfast in the Main Dining Room from 7-10 AM Monday through Friday, and from 7:30 to 10:30 on weekends and holidays.

What do I do if I want to book a private dinner party?
The best thing to do is contact our Group Sales Office. We have lovely choices that are perfect for private parties of 4 up to 90, depending on the occasion.

Are you air conditioned?
No. But our rooms are. Seasonal A/C is provided by either a window unit, central air or a wall unit.

Are your rooms haunted?
Hmmm. After 235 years … that’s a lot of guests … and old buildings do make strange noises … so there are a lot of rumors and stories. Are they true? Why not decide for yourself. And let us know if you see anything.

What is your cancellation policy?
We charge the first night’s room and tax at the time of reservation. This becomes your deposit. If you call us to cancel your reservation in advance of 7 days prior to your date of arrival, the deposit is refunded to your credit card. However, cancellations made within 7 day of arrival are non-refundable.

Where do we get cell service?
That’s the million dollar question around here. Coverage is still spotty in Stockbridge, despite the cell tower and the new Verizon transponder. A short walk to the back parking lot usually addresses the problem. Our Front Desk can offer suggestions as well.

Is there WIFI for the hotel guests?
Absolutely! When you register with the Front Desk, just ask for the password.

How do you find the parking area?
Off the street parking is available in the back of the Inn. You may enter from Elm Street, just south of the old Firehouse, or Route 7, just south of the Red Lion itself. Be careful of the winter parking ban on the streets of Stockbridge from November 15 to March 15, when you are not allowed to park from 1 AM to 6 AM.

How do we get around without a car?
There are several options. Besides on foot. Berkshire County does have a few taxi companies. Taxis charge by the mile, from the destination where they originate AND the mileage back again. They are fairly expensive compared to major American cities. We are just beginning to see Ubers and Lyfts around. We also have a public bus system, called the B Bus. However, it does not run on Sundays and stops at 7 PM. In the worst case scenario, there are car rental companies throughout the Berkshires.

How far are you from airports and train stations?
As far as airports go, we are 2 and ½ hours from Logan (Boston), about an hour and 20 minutes from Bradley (Hartford, CT) and an hour from Albany, New York. There are train stations over the border in Hudson, New York and Wassaic, New York. These stations are approximately an hour away. Driving services are available and cars can be rented in Hudson.

Do you have a shuttle to Tanglewood?
Yes, we do! Please call 413-298-5545 for more information and reservations.
