OUR PRESERVATION PROGRAM

Our family is proud to have stewarded The Red Lion Inn, one of the oldest Inns in the country, for over fifty years. Our historic hotel is a cornerstone in our community, and in New England, and we feel a profound responsibility to keep it thriving. Our operations and facilities team is the best in the business, and work tirelessly to maintain and update our buildings and grounds. We have developed a master plan, in partnership with expert professionals, that will guide our stewardship over the next 5,10,20 years.

The Preservation Fee goes directly toward these efforts and supports the ongoing, and never ending, upkeep of our historic buildings.  The cost of this work is enormous, and often addresses projects that you may not see or feel. Our priorities are always comfort, value, safety and enhancement of your experience here at The Inn in every way possible.

 Recent Projects Include:

  • Third floor exterior balcony rebuild

  • Complete renovation of The Lion's Den

  • Widow Bingham's Tavern Bar renovation

  • Important structural improvements to the Inn including South Wing girders, the Front Porch, and Side Piazza

  • Repair and restoration of the metal fire escapes on the Inn

  • Planned replacement of the South Wing fire escape

  • Ongoing enhancement of the exterior landscape

  • In process upgrades of heating and air conditioning in various locations across the Inn and Village House

  • Complete renovation of our Southwing rooms and Hallways

  • Upgrades of all accessible wiring

  • Refurbishing all the period lighting fixtures from the hallways and rooms.

  • Significant HVAC systems upgrades

  • Installation of acoustic ceilings to limit the transmission of sound from one floor to another.

This is only a sampling of the projects that have been completed and are currently in progress, and we are happy to share more about our work, our team and our master plan.

We are so grateful to have you as our guest, and thank you for your support of our stewardship of this incredible landmark.

Sincerely,

Sarah Eustis and The Fitzpatrick Family
