Mads Tolling is an internationally acclaimed violinist, composer, and two-time Grammy Award winner originally from Copenhagen, Denmark, now based in San Francisco. A former member of Stanley Clarke’s band and the acclaimed Turtle Island Quartet, he has performed with artists including Chick Corea, Ramsey Lewis, Kenny Barron, Paquito D’Rivera, and Leo Kottke. He is also a current member of Bob Weir’s Wolf Bros & Wolf Pack.
A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Tolling has earned widespread recognition, including the 2016 DownBeat Critics Poll Rising Star Violin Award. As a bandleader, he fronts the Mads Tolling Quartet and Mads Tolling & The Mads Men, performing original works alongside inventive arrangements of jazz, classical, and popular music. He has appeared at renowned venues worldwide, composed works for orchestra, and is a featured Yamaha Artist, leading performances and masterclasses internationally.
