Built in 1884 as the summer residence of Joseph and Caroline Choate and designed by the renowned architectural firm McKim, Mead & White, the 44-room Shingle Style mansion was home to generations of the Choate family before being entrusted to The Trustees in 1958.

Today, Naumkeag is best known for its extraordinary gardens, created by Mabel Choate and celebrated landscape architect Fletcher Steele over more than 30 years. Stroll through iconic landscapes like the Blue Steps, Afternoon Garden, Chinese Garden, and Rose Garden while taking in sweeping Berkshire views.

May 23-September 6, Thursday-Sunday
Gardens Open: 10AM-4PM (last entry at 3PM)
House Open: 10AM-3 PM

The first and second floors of the house are open until 3PM for self-guiding.

Guided Garden tours are offered throughout the day (Thurs-Sun), included in general admission.

*Backstairs tours and guided house tours are not included in general admission and must be purchased at an additional fee. Pre-registration is required as space is limited.*
